Islamorada / November 13-15, 2015 Cheeca Lodge & Spa All-American Backcountry Tournament

Anglers compete for prizes and trophies, targeting snook, redfish, permit, bonefish and tarpon. Trophies are awarded the individual grand champion and runner-up, grand champion team and runner-up, and champions in the fly, artificial and general tackle divisions. Highlights include three evening social events, boxed lunches and continental breakfast each morning, beachside post-fishing cocktail reception, banquet and awards, all characteristic of the casual elegance that defines Cheeca Lodge & Spa.

Female fishing fans can learn or polish angling skills during the award-winning weekend seminar. For nearly 20 years, approximately 7,000 female graduates have immersed themselves in a lighthearted yet skill-heavy curriculum to learn and hone skills in offshore, bottom, inshore and fly fishing, no matter what their experience level.

Islamorada / December 3-6, 2015 Islamorada Sailfish Tournament

The first leg of the triple-crown Florida Keys Gold Cup Championship Series is characterized by high-flying sail action, conservation and sportsmanship. It's also the only tournament in the Gold Cup series to offer a junior division for anglers aged 16 and younger. Unlimited anglers are allowed per vessel.

Islamorada / December 18-20, 2015 Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament

Recreation for teens in the Florida Keys can mean learning from experienced local captains and mates to tie a bimini or rig ballyhoo. One weekend each year anglers aged 16 and younger can apply such lessons in this competition. A maximum of six anglers is allowed per boat.

Key Largo / January 8-10, 2016 Key Largo Sailfish Challenge

Heralding the height of sailfish season, each year this boat tournament is characterized by friendly but serious competition, professionalism and camaraderie among anglers who put their 20-pound test line skills to task. Up to four anglers per boat can register for the event. Cash prizes and trophies await the first- through third-place teams. Auctions and raffles are to highlight the event.

The Presidential is one of the most prestigious offshore tournaments in the Florida Keys, and is the second leg of the Florida Keys Gold Cup Championship. Anglers compete for beautiful trophies and prizes with sumptuous banquets held at beautiful Cheeca Lodge & Spa.

Islamorada / January 18-19, 2016 Al Flutie Over the Hill Rip-Off Sailfish Tournament

This event is "almost too much fun for old guys to handle." Locally called the Flutie, the tournament has donated $428,000 to local and national charities. All age anglers can participate. Anglers age 50 and over will be awarded prizes.

Islamorada / January 20-21, 2016 IFC Sailfish Tournament

Presented by the Islamorada Fishing Club, this is the final leg of the Florida Keys Gold Cup Series, with a typical field of up to 30 boat teams of elite sport fishermen. A total cash payout for a full field at the IFC Sailfish Tournament could reach $30,000.

Anglers vie for top-honor trophies for catches of bonefish and redfish in this newly formatted event, appealing to a broader spectrum of anglers. Divisions in the tournament's new format include bait, artificial and fly. Awards also are to be given for total release points for each species and to the high-point angler for each day.
