Anglers compete for prizes and trophies, targeting snook, redfish, permit, bonefish and tarpon. Highlights include three evening social events, boxed lunches and continental breakfast each morning, beachside post-fishing cocktail reception, banquet and awards, all characteristic of the casual elegance that defines Cheeca Lodge & Spa.

"Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!" Annual Keys Fishing University for Women
Female fishing fans can learn or polish angling skills during the award-winning weekend seminar. For nearly 20 years, approximately 7,000 female graduates have immersed themselves in a lighthearted yet skill-heavy curriculum to learn and hone skills in offshore, bottom, inshore and fly fishing, no matter what their experience level.

Islamorada Sailfish Tournament
The first leg of the triple-crown Florida Keys Gold Cup Championship Series is characterized by high-flying sail action, conservation and sportsmanship. It's also the only tournament in the Gold Cup series to offer a junior division for anglers aged 16 and younger. Unlimited anglers are allowed per vessel.

Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament
Recreation for teens in the Florida Keys can mean learning from experienced local captains and mates to tie a bimini or rig ballyhoo. One weekend each year anglers aged 16 and younger can apply such lessons in this competition. A maximum of six anglers is allowed per boat. Proceeds help benefit Toys for Tots of Monroe County.

Key Largo Sailfish Challenge
Heralding the height of sailfish season, each year this boat tournament is characterized by friendly but serious competition, professionalism and camaraderie among anglers who put their 20-pound test line skills to task. Up to four anglers per boat can register for the event. Cash prizes and trophies await the first- through third-place teams. Auctions and raffles are to highlight the event, whose proceeds benefit the Coral Shores High School band program.

Al Flutie Over the Hill Rip-Off Sailfish Tournament
Entering its 24th year, this event is "almost too much fun for old guys to handle." Locally called the Flutie, the tournament has donated $420,000 to local and national charities. Anglers age 50 and over are welcome.

Backcountry Fly Championship Series
Tournament anglers are to compete to catch the most inches of snook and redfish on fly in a competition where one inch equals one point. Awards are to be given for grand champion, runner-up to grand champion, and largest snook, and redfish. The field is limited to 30 boats.

Islamorada Winter Classic
A new, family-formatted boat tournament that is to feature nine offshore target species. Trophies are to be offered top boats in weight and release categories, as well as private vessel and charter divisions. A junior release division is also planned for anglers up to age 10.

Jimmy Johnson's National Billfish Championship: Quest for the Ring
Hosted by Jimmy Johnson, two-time Super Bowl winning coach and former head coach at the University of Miami, this prestigious event benefits the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a South Florida-based cancer-related research, diagnosis and treatment facility. All anglers on the winning boat receive authentic, custom-designed Jimmy Johnson's NBC Championship rings.

Jim Bokor's Islamorada All-Tackle Bonefish & Redfish Shootout
Anglers vie for top-honor trophies for catches of bonefish and redfish in this newly formatted event, appealing to a broader spectrum of anglers. Divisions in the tournament's new format include bait, artificial and fly. Awards also are to be given for total release points for each species and to the high-point angler for each day. To be counted toward bonefish and redfish trophies, each fish caught and released must be at least 18 inches in length. An overall grand champion is to be named for both bonefish and redfish in the three categories.
